A study of the planning and management of athletic, physical education, and recreational facilities and the managing of events within these facilities. An emphasis will be placed on the planning process for both indoor and outdoor facilities and events. This course will help students gain the knowledge and experience in planning events on campus as well as observing and volunteering for events in the area.
Examination of the administrative tasks and policies/procedures necessary for sports managers in the operation of programs. Included is the development of organizational skills and human resource management, issues regarding risk management and liability, and the development of media relationships.

This culminating course prepares students for the real challenges of working in sport management. An internship experience will provide an opportunity to combine actual field experience with classroom knowledge in an area of special interest. This course presents content and pedagogy for the teaching of science in grades K-4 and requires learning essential science content through the perspectives and methods of inquiry. Students actively investigate phenomena that can be studied scientifically, interpret results, and make sense of findings consistent with currently accepted scientific understandings. 2 hours lecture, 2 hours laboratory. Designed for students with limited science background who want to increase their science knowledge, this course explores the science of food and cooking. Incorporating chemistry, biology, and physics, students will explore the basic molecules that make up our food, how those are transformed by various cooking techniques, and how they influence our experience of food. How can we prepare food that is interesting and fun to eat? We will explore ingredients and techniques for preparing them from traditional roasting to spherification and meat glue (transglutaminase). Labs will involve cooking, investigating the ingredients and techniques discussed in lecture. 2 hours lecture, 2 hours laboratory
This online course covers concepts related to Earth and its place in the universe. General topics include: astronomy, meteorology, Earth/Sun relationships, geology, and geomorphology. 2 hours lecture and 2 hours lab
A laboratory based course designed for students who have an interest in furthering their knowledge of astronomy. The course focuses on the history of astronomy, the solar system, the sun and life cycles of stars, galaxies and cosmology. Laboratory activities will include Kepler’s Laws, planetary motion, Doppler Effect, optics.
