Transfer Credit Policy

Students should be aware that the University’s transfer credit policy is college- and program-specific. Students are encouraged to consult with their academic advisor and the appropriate College Dean regarding transfer credit requirements and eligibility.

The following provisions apply to all transfer credit:

• Transfer credit is evaluated only after receipt of an official transcript from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Approved transfer credit is recorded using the equivalent Immaculata course title and credit hours.
• Approved transfer credit is assigned a grade of TR (Transfer).
• Transfer grades are not included in the calculation of the student's Immaculata grade point average.

Undergraduate transfer credit may be awarded for courses completed with a grade of C or better, provided the courses are equivalent to Immaculata courses in scope and content. In extenuating circumstances, transfer credit may be approved for courses completed with a grade of C- or lower.

Off-Campus Summer Study

Students in the College of Undergraduate Studies or the College of Nursing and Health Professions may take courses in the summer at approved colleges only with prior approval from the Center for Undergraduate Advising. Necessary forms for off-campus summer session enrollment may be obtained from the Academic Advisement Office. For transfer of credits earned at colleges other than Immaculata University, a grade of C or better is required. Students must have approval of the College dean should extenuating circumstances necessitate taking classes off-campus during the fall and spring semesters.

Such courses taken off-campus with an earned grade of C or above will be transcribed as TR.  While the transferred course will be used to meet any program course requirements, the transfer course grade does not replace any grade earned for the equivalent course at Immaculata and is not calculated as part of the student's GPA.

Full-time students who plan to study at Immaculata University during the summer should seek advisement prior to registration.

In exceptional circumstances, a matriculated part-time student may receive permission to enroll in a course at an accredited institution. Permission must be granted by the dean of the college prior to enrollment. Such courses taken off-campus with an earned grade of C or above will be transcribed as TR.

Any transfer courses do not count towards 60 Institutional Hours required for honors at graduation.
